A Sense of Shifting

Photography Book

A Sense of Shifting was an exercise in telling a narrative through the subtleties of design. I wanted to capture movement and expression to mirror the beautiful photography in this book. In each chapter, the photos start out with wide margins, and as the chapter progresses they take up more and more space on the page. The text blocks themselves shift up and down from page to page.

The typeface used for the cover, chapter titles, and running headers is called Queering, and open source typeface meant to honor protest signs through the eras of queer liberation.

Created for Chronicle Books as a design fellow, in collaboration with Kayla Ferriera, Coco Romack,
and Yael Malka.
